The Grande Arche gets a facelift

The works will start in January 2015 and will concern both the exterior and the interior of the south wall and the roof: facades, functional organization and layout of collective spaces and offices.

The rehabilitation of state property in l'Arche will be done via an administrative long-term lease (BEA), signed on September 30. This operation makes it possible to entrust the grouping with financing and carrying out the work. In return, a long-term civil lease is signed between the State and the group for a period of 20 years. Beyond this period, the State will recover full ownership of the building.

Worth around 200 million euros, the work will mainly focus on the complete upgrading of technical and functional equipment, the renovation of facades, the improvement of accessibility for people with reduced mobility, the rehabilitation of the roof in anticipation of the reopening of public access. Exemplary requirements will be placed on exemplarity in terms of sustainable development, particularly from an energy point of view.

At the end of this operation, in January 2017, the services of the central administration of the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy and the Ministry of Housing, Territorial Equality and Rurality will thus be spread over two buildings in La Défense: the Séquoia tower and the south wall of the Ark.
