Plant Inspirations 2024: refreshing the city

Because the cooling of cities and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions is everyone's business, businesses, households, communities, etc., the City of Montrouge invites Ile-de-France residents to come and discuss with experts and discover solutions for taking action. in a fun and friendly way. The program includes workshops, exhibitions, conferences, documentaries of innovations, sporting and creative activities for adults and children.

Understanding climate issues and the importance of islands of coolness

The Inspirations Végétales festival will begin, from Wednesday May 29, 2024, with a cycle of conferences on climate change, its consequences and the means to fight and adapt cities to face it.

The City of Montrouge therefore wishes to raise awareness and inform all stakeholders as much as possible in terms of decarbonization, water management, revegetation and urban agriculture.

Stroll around to discover plants and their benefits

For two days, visitors will enjoy nature omnipresent in the streets of the City through the flower and plant market on the Allées Jean Jaurès.

Horticulturists, nurserymen and craftsmen will be there to provide expert advice. The City's shared gardens will be open to everyone to learn everything about local cultures.

Be informed and act for greener, fresher, more peaceful cities

Different institutional actors and entrepreneurs specializing in ecological transition will explain the different initiatives intended to cool cities. They will help to facilitate the learning of good everyday actions in a fun and educational way, and will explain the basics of nature in the city.

To discover, vegetable caviar, revisited composters offering a gardening space, tea production in Ile-de-France, landscape coaching, the transformation of unsold fruits and vegetables into artisanal jams...

The Festival also organizes around thirty workshops on the discovery of different agricultural techniques, good actions to promote biodiversity or simply the keys to increasing vegetation.

On the program, an apprenticeship as a nurseryman, potting plants, creating seedlings, a productive balcony box, a terrarium or even seed bombs... a discovery of beekeeping initiated by the Société centrale d'Apiculture from an educational digital hive.

These workshops will be complemented by an exhibition on biodiversity from the National Museum of Natural History; rides in a rosalie to explore the cool islands of the City; screenings of documentaries such as Les Gardiens de la Forêt on Place Cresp and at the Espace Colucci…

Signings of the books “Je Jardine les pieds sur terre” by Marie Lescroart and “Knowledge of bees. For rational beekeeping” by Yves Berthaud and Anne Chevais will be organized on the Librairie du Bonheur stand.

A meeting for the little ones

This festival invites young and old to immerse themselves in the heart of the urban garden and biodiversity in order to discover the challenges of nature in the city through workshops and fun activities: rides that take children into the garden and the discovery of its vegetables; an escape game created by the municipal children's council entitled "The enigma of the mysterious laboratory"; a kim smell, taste, flavor to gain plants; a photo competition: stories told and animated…

Well-being and natural flavors await you

Health and sport being key elements of well-being, the festival organizes Zen family sports sessions, yoga but also sports sessions which raise awareness of the climate transition with optimism.

The Inspirations Végétales festival also welcomes epicureans to the Locavore space where Montrouge restaurateurs will create delicious recipes using local and seasonal foods. Gourmets will also be able to get their hands dirty and take part in culinary workshops.
