With the presence of two ministers and a High Commissioner, the CAPEB Congress marks the recognition of building craftsmanship

With immediate repercussions on the ability to meet environmental and societal challenges, the challenge of making craft professions attractive is major. Energy renovation involves the creation of 200.000 jobs. The changing age of the French population and the necessary adaptation of existing buildings require 300.000 jobs in all sectors combined. The skills needs are immense. However, in 2023, 30% of craft construction companies that sought to recruit, only 50% succeeded.

The debate focused on the need for a paradigm shift in the way of approaching the attractiveness of craft construction professions. The initiatives taken to make them known have had relative success and the lack of recognition of the artisanal enterprise and its specificities harms their ability to fully respond to it while there is a factual adequacy between the values ​​of the craftsmanship of building and the aspirations of the population.

The notable presence at the opening of the Congress of Minister Christophe Béchu, who had already done the honor of closing the CAPEB meetings “Artisanal construction companies and new generations: a winning duo” in February 2023, testifies to the importance that the Minister places emphasis on the attractiveness of these professions to succeed in the ecological transition.

He took the opportunity to recall the essential role played by building craftsmen in achieving the objectives set in terms of ecological transition. “You are an integral part of the French energy renovation team. We will only succeed in this transition with you.” He also wanted to reassure CAPEB of its desire to implement the measures announced on March 8. He underlined the importance of continuing the simplification of MaPrimeRenov' after expressing his satisfaction "at having restored common sense with the single gesture which will make it possible to relaunch the energy renovation market". The simplification of the RGE through validation of acquired experience, the establishment of a redesigned work path and the implementation of temporary groupings of companies are among its priority files.

For his part, Guillaume Kasbarian recalled the need to adopt an encouraging speech on MaPrimeRenov' to stimulate the commitment of the French. He also mentioned the desire to imagine new forms of financing by mobilizing the banking sector to allow households to finance their remaining expenses more easily, as well as a territorialized approach to housing policy.
