Publication of the practical sustainable development guide “Autonomous sanitation installation – 3rd edition”

This practical guide supports you in creating reliable and durable installations, as well as in their maintenance.

Non-collective sanitation affects more than 5 million homes in France, mainly individual homes located in dispersed housing areas. This method of wastewater purification is well suited to this type of area, for which investments in wastewater collection would be particularly high and unjustified.

Non-collective public sanitation services, authorized to control these installations, can prescribe rehabilitation work in the event of damage to the environment and health.

Easy to access, educational, this guide is aimed at installers as well as manufacturers, architects, BETs, project owners and SPANC.

This 3rd edition is presented with a new model and a new cover visual and contains updated technical recommendations for the design, sizing, implementation and maintenance of on-site sanitation installations, in particular: details on the typology of ANC installations, updating of evaluation methods and rankings, focus on the reference texts which make it possible to prevent claims, update on the respective roles of the different actors.

This guide is updated and takes into account all up-to-date reference texts. It is based on the NF DTU 64.1 standard of August 2, 2013 and concerns individual houses (up to 20 main rooms).

The guide was written by Abdel Lakel, engineer at CSTB, expert in autonomous sanitation who led the work to update DTU standards.
