Batinfo: Can you introduce Rairies Montrieux?
Remy Montrieux: Created in 1910, Rairies Montrieux is an artisanal, family-run brickworks, offering a complete range of bricks, tiles and facing tiles in natural or enameled terracotta for exterior facades, interior walls, floors and exterior fittings. The company has been going strong for 5 generations.
Initially, we were very oriented towards tiling. During the 2010s, we were able to make the strategic shift and follow the trend to turn towards facade products, and towards tailor-made products.
The research and development laboratory now allows us to develop tailor-made products, both in terms of shape and color.
Batinfo: How is your CSR policy structured? What is the place of re-employment at Rairies Montrieux?
Remy Montrieux: For 3 years, we have been committed to an eco-responsible approach. The latter is reflected in particular by the recycling of waste, the revaluation of products, or even by investments in production.
Reuse: recycling of waste and revaluation of products
On the one hand, the revaluation of existing products, manufactured for specific orders but ultimately left behind for various reasons (colors, cooking, etc.).
On the other hand, by recycling our cooked waste, which is crushed and transformed to create mulch for gardens. Mulch is also used for decorative gabion walls, as shown by the gabion made in the Athletes' Village.
The eco-approach also contributes to reducing the ecological and environmental impact in production thanks to our biomass boiler fueled by waste from industry. This can power a dryer, just like the waste heat from our wood-fired ovens, which is also recovered to power a second dryer. The latter therefore do not consume fossil energy.
Social and societal: hiring students and seniors
We have a significant demand from students and seniors. Indeed, our need is partial and over weekend periods, but there is a perfect match between our supply and demand, to general satisfaction!
Batinfo: How do you see the future for Rairies Montrieux?
Remy Montrieux: The future looks towards External Thermal Insulation, the development of new products, particularly shapes, and the development of the company for export!
