Founded in April 2016 by Kévin Legault, this young start-up was born from a double observation: on the one hand, companies owning construction equipment underuse their equipment, certain machines are only used 30% of the time during l 'year. And on the other hand, companies have specific needs for construction equipment (the French market for rental of construction equipment is estimated at 4,7 billion euros). Equipments to Share is based on a new win-win business model, acting as a trusted third party. For this, the company provides professionals with a contact platform for online rental of construction equipment (www.equipementapartager.com). This allows owners of construction equipment to amortize their expenses (credit reimbursement, maintenance, upkeep, insurance and storage), which, accumulated, can represent several thousand euros. And this allows professionals seeking construction equipment to rent equipment at the best price.
How does it work?
Equipments to Share is a simple, fast and flexible solution which offers suppliers, owners of construction equipment, the opportunity to place free rental ads for equipment by freely setting their price and availability. Applicants, looking for equipment to rent, search for and select the equipment that interests them free of charge, near their site and at a lower cost. This allows them to rent equipment up to 50% cheaper than a traditional rental company. The supplier may also offer delivery and provision of an operator. This transaction is ensured by a rental contract, an insurance contract with AXA France, which covers during the rental period equipment that breaks down in the machine, theft, fire, civil liability, operation and traffic. In addition, a customer service is available to users to respond to all their rental requests, payment is secure and a rating system makes it possible to assess both the owner and the tenant.
Who are the users of Equipment to Share?
First of all, the suppliers are VSEs / SMEs who have underused equipment, sleeping in their warehouse. There are also independent renters who lack awareness of the behemoths of the sector. As for the applicants, these are VSEs and SMEs wishing to make savings for their site, by renting equipment at low cost and nearby.
The connection platform has been online since January 29, 2017 and currently lists around 400 materials in 5 departments, for 100 users (suppliers and applicants). It therefore offers as many machines for all types of work: aerial work platforms, mini excavators, cranes, scaffolding, tillers, concrete mixers, or backhoe loaders. By the end of 2017, the company hopes to succeed in creating a dynamic in the north of France, then to expand to the national level.
