REP Bâtiment: start of eco-contributions postponed to May 1, 2023 - The FFB heard!

Companies considered to be "producers" within the meaning of the EPR (manufacturers and importers of products and materials in particular) must nevertheless join one of the eco-organizations from January 1, 2023.

This report concerns:

• the application of eco-contributions to building construction products and materials;
• the start of free collection services for sorted waste.

The FFB welcomes this initiative by the eco-organizations which echoes its recurring request to the State for a period of 9 months between the publication of the scales and their application. This time lag therefore allows additional time for building contractors and craftsmen to incorporate these additional costs into their quotes and contracts. The FFB recalls that this deadline is essential for any new publication of new scales by the eco-organisations. The 2024 prices must therefore be known as of March 2023.

Beyond this very good news, several essential points for the proper functioning of the sector are still awaited, in particular:

• the definition of sorting rules to benefit from free take-back;
• the publication of REP partner collection points in 2023;
• the creation of the coordinating body for the sector;
• details on the definition of producer.

Olivier Salleron, president of the FFB declares: “This discrepancy is common sense in a chaotic context of setting up this EPR sector. Anticipation is the key to the success of a serene start. In view of the delay taken by the sector, there was no other possible option. »
