This Community, born from the work and discussions carried out so far within the Sustainable Material Meetings, will be active all year round, with the ambition to act in complementarity and synergy with professional federations, for the acceleration of environmental transformation of the construction equipment sector.
Determined to successfully transform the construction equipment sector towards a sustainable sector, 10 volunteer companies in the sector (Bouygues Construction, Colas, Eiffage, Haulotte, JCB, Kiloutou, Manitou Group, NGE, Salti, and Volvo) met at several times over the past year, to work on structuring the Community of Sustainable Equipment Actors (CAMD).
The CAMD now established (association Law 1901) has a collegial governance representing the three trades, equipment manufacturers, rental companies and building and public works companies. A president, Olivier Colleau - also Executive President of Kiloutou - and two vice-presidents of CAMD, Michel Denis and Patrick N'Kodia, respectively Managing Director of Manitou group and Director of Transformation of Bouygues Construction, are thus appointed.
The CAMD will pursue 5 key objectives, which are:
- To provide concrete solutions and carry out cross-industry projects
- Building a knowledge base and a common decarbonization trajectory
- Increase the visibility of the equipment sector and its role in construction transitions
- Defend, alongside professional federations, convictions for a sustainable sector
- Carry out a common vision and ambition for the decarbonization of the sector.
The monitoring and implementation of these 5 key objectives will be ensured by an Operational Committee made up of representatives of the 10 member companies. Their mission will be to identify and lead cross-functional projects around the technological challenges of the sector (energy, engines, carbon balances and measurements) and regulatory developments (CSRD, European taxonomy, SBTi). In addition, the Operational Committee will be responsible for organizing the major highlights of the CAMD, including the next Sustainable Equipment Meetings, which will be held on September 24, 2024.
The CAMD is based on the pooling of efforts, skills and good practices to accelerate the environmental transformation of the sector, work that is complementary, through its transversality, to that carried out within professional federations. The common knowledge base, resulting from studies, work and projects commissioned by the CAMD and a real lever for efficiency and acceleration of transformation, is therefore intended to be shared with current and future members of the CAMD to nourish their leaves individual and common roads serving the decarbonization of the sector.
