The CAPEB sends 26 proposals to Elisabeth Borne for an active contribution of craftsmen to the energy renovation of buildings

While the price increases of materials and energy never end, Jean-Christophe Repon, President of CAPEB wished to draw the attention of the Prime Minister to the will and the capacity of craft building companies to actively contribute to the environmental transition of the sector through several proposals.

Rising material prices, supply difficulties, repercussions of rising energy costs: since 2021, craft building companies have been subject to conditions impacting their cash flow and their margin. However, "they have been able, until now, thanks to their skills and their ability to adapt, to organize themselves to meet the demand of their customers, to master the management of their sites and to hire throughout the territory" according to the open letter from CAPEB.

This situation could nevertheless be improved and craft businesses could optimize their ability to renovate buildings with the lifting of certain obstacles and government action.

CAPEB asks in particular:

A simplification of the RGE qualification to increase the number of qualified companies.
Securing the joint agent of temporary groupings of companies (GME) to develop the use of co-contracting by VSEs. This would have the effect of increasing their means to carry out building renovations.
Optimization of the management of the MaPrimeRénov' system coupled with greater involvement of the banking industry in the financing of renovation works would allow a significant multiplication of the works market and thus strengthen the effectiveness of government measures from 2023, for the benefit of a majority of households and construction companies.
Ensure that the provisions in terms of CEE or RGE qualification do not penalize VSEs. This equal treatment, which would release the potential of 500.000 companies with fewer than 10 employees.
