Usually closed to the public, sites of all kinds and sizes (hospitals, retirement homes, museums, high schools, stadiums, office buildings, etc.) will reveal their backstage at different stages of work progress.
Behind the scenes of the building?
Every year, the FFB organizes Les Coulisses du bâtiment, an open house operation for construction sites, workshops and CFAs. This is a unique opportunity to:
- discover the construction sector in a concrete way, by visiting “real” construction sites and workshops;
- meet men and women who are builders and proud of it;
- get information on promising professions, for both men and women.
Since 2003, the ambition of Les Coulisses du bâtiment has been, on the one hand, to make young people and the general public discover what is hidden behind the palisades of construction sites. In other words, to reveal construction techniques through trades in the sector. On the other hand, the FFB wishes to encourage vocations among young people and attract professionals in retraining. Each site thus offers a visit circuit, a presentation of the various professions, information on the structure under construction, career prospects and useful addresses.
Behind the scenes of the building in figures:
Nearly 1.480.000 visitors to 4.500 sites since 2003
A live to visit a construction site as if you were there!
Last year, nearly 100.000 students took part in Les Coulisses du Bâtiment by going to a construction site thanks to a live broadcast on YouTube.
On the strength of this success, the FFB is once again offering to follow, on October 13 from 10 a.m., a digital version of Les Coulisses du Bâtiment live on YouTube but also on LinkedIn.
Lasting 45 minutes, this device will include a site visit and demonstration workshops in order to discover trades and also new technologies.
Les Coulisses du bâtiment can be found now on social networks:
A dedicated website
The page dedicated to this operation on the site www.lebatiment.fr indicates in real time the sites open in each department with essential information such as the type of work presented, the trades represented, the address, the days and opening hours.
It also provides a detailed presentation of the sector, behind the scenes of the building and trades.
Practical information
Where are the sites to visit
The page https://lebatiment.fr/nos-evenements/coulisses-du-batiment gives all the details on the construction sites, workshop and CFA to visit.
What outfit to wear?
Practical clothing and flat shoes are highly recommended. The organizing team gives each visitor a helmet (compulsory) upon arrival. It is necessary to avoid shoes with heels, flip flops, dresses, unsuitable for visits. And yes, construction sites and workshops are places of work where safety rules must be respected!
And the safety rules?
The visits will be organized in strict compliance with the safety and prevention instructions in force and applied in close collaboration with the OPPBTP (Building and Public Works Prevention Organization).
Are the visits paid?
No, access to the tours is completely free.
