The Engie group announced on Monday April 29 the signing of an agreement with Orsted to acquire all of the Danish renewables specialist's wind and solar activities in France, including nine onshore wind farms.
The agreement was signed on Friday, and the transaction, the amount of which was not communicated, must be finalized during this quarter, specifies the French group.
With the acquisition of Ostwind France, Engie Green acquires nine wind farms located in Hauts-de-France and Nouvelle-Aquitaine, for an installed capacity of 74 megawatts (MW) including 24 MW under construction, as well as a wind farm solar photovoltaic with an installed capacity of 4 MW.
The agreement also includes a portfolio of wind projects in development, spread across the entire territory, adds Engie Green, which will integrate the company's 70 employees.
This acquisition “completes the organic growth strategy of Engie Green, already the leader in wind and solar power in France” with 2023 gigawatts (GW) of wind and 2,5 GW of solar in operation at the end of 1,9, explains the company, which also sees it as a strengthening of its “territorial anchoring, its global expertise and its competitiveness”.
Orsted, for its part, announced in February a heavy net loss of 2,7 billion euros for 2023, due to the cancellation of a huge offshore wind farm project in the United States. To restore its finances, it notably announced the abandonment of certain investments and asset sales.
