The Vitrification Trophy highlights the quality of the work accomplished with Plastor products, promotes the methods used by professionals, while highlighting their know-how.
Whatever the place - residential housing, collective public or private place - it is the most remarkable projects, technically or decoratively, which have won a prize. For this 8th edition, the prize-winners are:
- 1st Prize: The Bras - Le Suquet restaurant in Laguiole, produced by the Lacombe company,
- 2nd Prize: The Opticien Perrier establishment in Chambéry, produced by Espace Parquet,
- 3rd Prize: The restaurant Une table, in the South of Marseille, created by the parquet craftsman Jean-Marc Benoit.
1st Prize: Restaurant Bras - Le Suquet in Laguiole Entreprise LACOMBE (12)
Jean-Marie LACOMBE - Cabinetmaker and restaurant planner
“We participated in the first works of the Le Suquet restaurant by laying the parquet in 1992, so I know the Bras family very well. Every 2 years or so, we renovate the parquet flooring in the dining room, which is in high demand due to traffic. Each time we have very short response times, so as not to penalize the activity of the restaurant, this is why with my team of 4 people, we had to complete the work in 3 days.
Covering a surface area of 200 m2, the restaurant room has densified beech parquet, a very hard and very clear essence. To protect this wood, a matt finish is required, which does not stain on contact with wine and which is resistant to abrasion and impact from shoe soles.
Under the advice of the Plastor technician, a brand partner with whom we have worked for many years and with which I am fully satisfied, we opted for the Bottom sealer and the Pur-T®4 sealer, for its resistance to abrasion and shock.
The first step was to sand the parquet, to remove the old finish and erase the deep scratches. We took up the gaps in the wood and changed the blades which were very damaged, before applying the Bottom Colmateur, a natural-looking undercoat, ideal for light wood like beech. After a slight ginning of the entire surface, we applied 2 coats of Pur-T®4 sealer to ensure a beautiful, durable finish. "

Bottom sealer underlay
The bottom sealer guarantees optimal protection of the support and increases the performance and yield of the sealer. In the aqueous phase, this one-component acrylic technical sublayer modifies the nature of the porous support by bridging the differences in absorption. It provides a uniform and regular level of protection over the entire surface. Reinforced with anti-UV agents, it prevents yellowing of the film and the wood. Its creamy texture clogs the bottom, giving the wood a filling. Its natural appearance preserves light tones, such as beech.
Pur-T®4
In the aqueous phase, this two-component sealer is perfectly suited for the vitrification of parquet floors very exposed to traffic because it is very resistant to impact and abrasion. Its formula, more efficient and more resistant, is based on polycarbonate, a resin of great hardness which has the capacity to deform to better absorb shocks and scratches. Its viscosity is very important.
Very pleasant to apply, it is odorless and is formulated with 0% NMP and CIP.
2nd Prize: Optician Perrier Establishment in Chambéry ESPACE PARQUET Company (73)
Patrick DAVOINE - Specialized in the sale, installation and renovation of parquet floors
“The owners of the Opticien Perrier brand, customers we know well, wanted to do renovation work for their shop and therefore asked me to refurbish the 55 m2 of solid oak parquet floors.
To carry out this project, the main constraint of which was not to close the shop for several days, I opted for the UV drying vitrification method by Plastor. Thanks to this technique, which I have already practiced on other construction sites, I was able to restore the room, with the intervention of a Plastor technician, in just 2 days.
I first sanded the parquet, which was damaged in certain areas, especially around the tables and the counter. I applied a Prim'SO hard base coat to get a good grip, then I applied 2 coats of UV-Time® sealer. I dried this glazer using a UV machine, specially designed for this product and which makes it possible to treat large areas easily.
The advantage of UV glazing is that it hardens and reaches its full strength immediately. With this technique, the oak parquet floor could be renovated and protected again within a very short time, and the brand was able to reopen very quickly to the public.
Once again, I trusted Plastor, a partner with whom I have been working for twenty years. I know the quality of the products very well and I am fully satisfied with the service and advice from the brand's technicians. "

Prim'So underlay
Universal hard base, single-component and ready to use, Prim'So forms a smooth and homogeneous film and warms the appearance of wood. Its high penetrating power allows the wood to be deeply impregnated and to form an ideal attachment base for the finish. It neutralizes antioxidants to ensure perfect drying of the sealer.
Process used: UV-Time® - UV curing glazer
The wear and stain resistance of the UV-Time® sealer is incomparable. Thanks to the curing process using a UV machine, it can treat all floors, even the most stressed, whether new or renovation. The instant hardening of UV-Time® allows the premises to be put back into service as soon as the site is completed. UV-Time® does not contain isocyanate, so there is no mixing of hardener to perform. In addition, with only 3g / L of VOCs, UV-Time® is labeled EC1 + and classified A + for indoor air quality.
Without additional constraints, UV-Time® can be applied like traditional glazers but with UV curing in addition, an operation no more difficult than a sanding pass.
3rd Prize: One table restaurant, in the South in Marseille - Artisan parqueteur Jean-Marc BENOIT (13)
Jean-Marc BENOIT - Specialized in laying, sanding and vitrification of parquet floors
“Through an architect whom I know well, I obtained the renovation site for the 144 m2 parquet floor in Jatoba d'Une table, to the south, a recently starred restaurant located opposite the old port of Marseille. The owners of this chic and elegant place wanted to refresh the 2 dining rooms and renovate the parquet floor. Although Jatoba is an exotic wood species, stable and durable, used by traffic and daily maintenance, it was damaged in some places and needed to be renovated.
The main constraint of this site was the time. To limit the loss of activity of this starred restaurant, we had to complete the work in one week. A team of 4 people was necessary to carry out the site.
To renovate this magnificent Jatoba parquet, I used Plastor products, whose performance I know very well since I have been working with the brand for over 20 years. Indeed, in addition to the quality of the products, I appreciate the complicity with my Plastor contacts. They are always available to answer my questions, don't hesitate to come see me to present me new solutions or give me advice.
For this site, on the first day, we repaired and changed a few planks of parquet which were particularly damaged. Then, using 2 sanders, we made 5 sanding passes to remove the previous finishing layers and eliminate scratches on the parquet of the entrance hall and the 2 rooms.
We applied a first layer of Patrim sealer, under the advice of the Plastor technical service, then lightly ginning after drying. Then, we applied a second layer of sealer, which allowed us to obtain a beautiful natural amber shade, bringing out the veining of this orange brown wood. The end result offers a very nice result. "

Patrim sealer
In the solvent phase, this colorless two-component polyurethane sealer is perfectly suited for the vitrification of parquet floors very exposed to traffic, such as those in a restaurant, because it is very resistant to impact and abrasion. It is applied directly to raw wood and gives it a warm, natural shade. Its flexible film follows the movements of wood. Very pleasant to apply, it is formulated with 0% NMP and CIP.
