14th edition of the Vitrification Trophies: Plastor rewards the most beautiful vitrification projects

The parquet floors of the award-winning construction sites benefited from the protection and performance of Plastor products and systems.

The prize-winners for this 14th edition are:

• 1st Prize: The town hall of Fougères (35), built by the company Germain Cédric (35).
• 2nd Prize: Le Château des Tourelles (44), built by the company Guyot Alain (44).
• 3rd Prize: Les Gîtes de Bourg-Blanc (29), built by the company Potin Patrice (29).

1st Prize: Fougères Town Hall (35) – Germain Cédric Company (35)

For Cédric Germain, Director of the company: « In 1998, I took over the reins of the company that my father had founded in the 60s. Currently the company has five people: a secretary, three workers and myself, who manages it. We specialize in the renovation, finishing and maintenance of parquet floors and stairs, new or old. The majority of our projects concern individuals but we trWe are also available for professionals (painters, carpenters, etc.), town halls (parquet flooring in sports or party halls) as well as for landlords. The municipality of Fougères asked us for a quote for the renovation of the old town library, a space that had been disused for years. A new parquet floor had been installed 5 or 6 years ago, then left as is until our intervention. On 110 m2 of raw oak parquet, we applied a Plastor Color floors limestone shade which had been chosen by the client, then a PRIM’SO Plastor hard base, well suited after a stain. We then proceeded with ginning and applied two coats of PUR-T®3 DUO gloss varnish then PUR-T®4 extra matt Plastor. There were three of us who carried out the work in 5 days. It was a pleasant and exciting mission to help restore the character of this beautiful space. I have always worked with Plastor products. My father used them, it was with him that I discovered them and I remained faithful to them. I appreciate the know-how of the company and the attention of their salespeople. »

2nd PRIZE: CHÂTEAU DE LA TOURELLE (44)
Company Guyot Alain (44)

For Alain Guyot, Director of the company:“I created my own business on January 2, 1997. I do installation but I specialize in parquet sanding, maintenance and renovation. I work alone and locally, around La Baule and the Guérande peninsula. I mainly work in private homes and projects almost always come to me through word of mouth.. In the case of Château de la Tourelle, I was recommended. Initially, the client wanted an oiled parquet floor. I first provided him with a sample because on such a large surface, it is better not to make a mistake. However, this first choice heated the wood too much. We finally opted for a Plastor BARE WOOD EFFECT underlay covered with a PUR-T®3 DUO Plastor matte sealer. It was a 435 m2 restaurant room whose oak flooring was damaged and dark, particularly due to heavy traffic. As the parquet floor was poorly oiled and not very well maintained, I took charge of brightening the floor. There were therefore two layers of BARE WOOD EFFECT then a layer of matt two-component PUR-T®3 DUO varnish to produce the most natural effect possible. These are acrylic products that dry quickly and are very pleasant to apply. Concerning the sanding, I made four passes: the first two with grains of 36 then 60 with zirconium, the third with a grinding of 80 with silicon carbide and the last with a quadro single brush with grain 100. The challenge of this construction site was undeniably the time allotted: I only had a week to complete everything. I have been working with Plastor since my installation, it is the first supplier to have responded. I know their product line very well and our understanding is excellent. »

3rd Prize: Gîtes de Bourg-Blanc (29) – Entreprise Potin Patrice (29)

For Patrice Potin, Director of the company: « I set up on my own in 1998, after working for eight years in another company. I work alone, mainly in the north of Finistère. I carry out both renovations and the installation of solid parquet flooring and stairs, 90% for individuals and 10% for large public facilities projects (town halls, village halls or, more occasionally, sports halls). The architect and painter of the Bourg-Blanc gîtes recommended me for this old-style renovation project. This involved new parquet flooring and oak staircases in two gîtes as well as a common building offering a ping-pong room, a billiard room and a swimming pool to tenants. The whole represented 150 m2 of parquet flooring, three staircases as well as around ten pieces of oak furniture to be protected. The client, who has taste and the habit of creating spaces, wanted to create very beautiful lodgings, and I must say that this collaboration in good understanding was very pleasant. The site painter also used Plastor products, the bare wood effect undercoat and the Pur-T®3 matte varnish, to give a raw effect to the oak beams and chestnut paneling. I worked for a month in total on several interventions, the project having been delayed by the health crisis then by the unavailability of certain other craftsmen. I made three sanding passes with different grains and a single brush then applied two coats of NUDE WOOD EFFECT and one of PUR-T®3 DUO MAT. I have been loyal to Plastor products for 33 years. I have a good command of their range and am very satisfied with their quality-price ratio, as well as the relations with the sales representative. »

Parquet stain COLOR FLOORS TINTE

In an aqueous phase based on high-intensity dyes and pigments, Color Floors Tint is ideal for difficult construction sites or for large areas of parquet.

Its optimized formulation is easy to apply. Thanks to a very long open time, it does not leave traces of stains even on large surfaces. It can be covered after 1 hour with the Prim’So hard base and after 24 hours with a Pur-T® sealer.

Color Floors Tint colors the parquet floor intensely and has a palette of 15 shades: wood shades, natural shades and mineral shades.

Ready to use and all mixable with each other, they offer a range of possibilities for personalizing parquet.

Color Floors White is a concentrated formula to be diluted.

Hard bottom BARE WOOD EFFECT

The Bare Wood Effect Hard Base impregnates the wood in depth, blocks tannin build-up while completely retaining its color to leave it with a totally natural appearance. It is used as a system with all PUR-T® Plastor water-based varnishes.

Ready to use and easy to use, its fluid formulation allows uniform application without traces of refills. It dries very quickly, in 1 to 2 hours between coats, and does not require sanding. It is recommended to apply 2 coats of hard primer and 1 coat of varnish.

PRIM’SO hard bottom

Equipped with high penetrating power which allows it to form an ideal bonding base for finishing, the PRIM'SO universal hard base is compatible with all Plastor varnishes (in aqueous phase and in solvent phase). Its pore filler function neutralizes anti-oxidants to ensure the perfect drying of all parquet sealers.

Very comfortable to use, PRIM’SO dries quickly and has no annoying odor. Furthermore, it gives a light honey color to the parquet and is suitable for all types of species, both on new wood and on old wood.

PUR-T®3 DUO varnisher

PUR-T®3 DUO Plastor is a two-component water-based polycarbonate sealer for high-stress rooms and public places. Made up of a 90/10 mixture, it is very pleasant to apply.

Fat, without annoying odor and classified A+, it gives a good filling, a non-yellowing film and a long recovery time. It helps preserve the light tone of wood when used directly on raw wood. It is perfectly suited to parquet floors or new or old interior wood products in all types of species. Finally, it is formulated with 0% NMP (N-Methyl Pyrrolidone) and NEP (N-Ethyl Pyrolidone).

PUR-T®4 Extra matt varnish

In the aqueous phase, this two-component Plastor sealer is perfectly suited to the sealing of parquet floors exposed to extreme traffic, in public places for example, because it is very resistant to shock and abrasion.

High-performance, its formula is based on polycarbonate, a very hard resin which has the ability to deform to better absorb shocks and scratches.

Its viscosity is very high.

Very pleasant to apply, it is odorless and is formulated with 0% NMP and NEP.
