These three companies, subsidiaries of the Omnium Développement group, which have signed public interest judicial agreements (CJIP), have been under investigation since May 2022 for "active corruption of a person entrusted with a public service mission, trafficking in "active influence on a person entrusted with a public service mission, concealment of favoritism and concealment of illegal taking of interests", specifies the press release from the prosecution.
A judicial investigation was opened in October 2021 for acts of corruption since 2019 at the Real Estate Mixed Economy Company of the city of Martigues (SEMIVIM), facts revealed by the online media Blast.
SEMIVIM is the social landlord of the city of Martigues, of which the communist mayor Gaby Charroux is also the president. The municipality became a civil party in this case, where the three companies were suspected of having paid elected officials and members of SEMIVIM in return for the award of public contracts.
The three companies will also have to pay 125.000 euros to SEMIVIM and 125.000 euros to the municipality of Martigues as “compensation for their damage”, added the prosecution.
In total, eleven people were indicted in this case, including the general director of SEMIVIM, her partner, also employed by the social landlord, as well as two municipal elected officials from Martigues.
“Judicial information is continuing with regard to the other people indicted,” said the Marseille prosecutor’s office.
