Launched in August 2019, the project is due to be completed in May 2021. TELBA GmbH, a subsidiary of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa, is carrying out work on a total of 16 buildings in Potsdamer Platz, including office complexes, a shopping center , an auditorium and several cinemas, as well as an underground car park under the entire area of the square.
A reliable and sustainable system solution
The contract provides for the connection of all technical security devices, such as fire and anti-intrusion alarm systems, video equipment, emergency exits and elevators already in place, and the access control system to the all 16 buildings in Potsdamer Platz, a new video surveillance and risk management system based on WinGuard and Milestone, two software independent of the hardware. When the operation is complete, the complete system will administer and manage approximately 40 data points and 000 video cameras.
The contract also provides for the renewal of video technology, with the installation of Axis IP cameras (without network cable), an intelligent video detection system and control center technology (equipment, video wall, crisis room, etc.), including a communication system based on the UNIFY OpenScape Xpert solution. Jörg Marks, Managing Director of TELBA GmbH, explains: “In addition to this major contract, we are pleased to have negotiated a ten-year maintenance contract for the new installations. "
High skills from a single source
The customers of the multi-technical service provider benefit from a wide range of services from a single source. Other SPIE units are involved in the installation of communication solutions and the technical implementation of the video surveillance and risk management system. “Thanks to SPIE's multiple skills, we were the only supplier to offer a convincing all-in-one technical solution. This flagship project highlights our capabilities and perfectly illustrates the collective strength of SPIE's operational units ”, explains Michael Hartung, director of the ICS (Information & Communication Services) division and member of the management committee of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa. In addition, the project marks an important new step in the continuous development of the alarm systems business.
Respect of the calendar
The first steps were carried out correctly: The control center, now fitted with new furniture and new screens, is already operational with existing systems. In the coming weeks, the new control center management software will be installed on virtual servers and accessible on site; they will be supplied with data by the end of 2020. Full tests have already been successfully carried out. In addition, over the next 12 months, about 700 cameras will be installed throughout the Potsdamer Platz area and will be gradually put into service. Jörg Marks: "The final test of the system is scheduled for early 2021, and we should deliver the project to our client, Brookfield Properties, in May the same year. "

“According to our client, the technical solution that we proposed to him with our partner Advancis was decisive in the award of this project, and we are very proud of it. Our solution brings an added value clearly higher than that of competing solutions. One more reason to be delighted to have won this contract! ", welcomes Jörg Marks. At the beginning of March 2020, SPIE was certified "System partner" from Advancis Software & Services GmbH. The software publisher is one of the world market leaders in security management software and multi-vendor building technology.
