The French construction materials and distribution group Saint-Gobain announced on Tuesday that it had sold two subsidiaries specializing in glass, the French company Aurys and the German company GVG Deggendorf.
Aurys, headquartered in Manche, specializes in shaping and processing flat glass. It has 145 employees for a turnover of around 20 million euros in 2020. The company was sold to a former manager of Saint-Gobain, the group said in a press release.
With equivalent sales, the Deggendorf site in Bavaria employs 160 people in the tempered glass sector. It is bought by the Swiss group Arbonia.
"These operations are part of the pursuit of Saint-Gobain's portfolio optimization strategy, aimed at improving the group's growth and profitability profile", explains Saint-Gobain, which does not communicate any amounts.
At the end of July, Saint-Gobain announced in its half-year results that it had "completely overcome the Covid crisis of 2020", with a net profit of nearly 1,3 billion euros for the first six months of the year .
