Global manufacturer Milliken & Company takes a new step in environmental responsibility. All textile tiles, “LVT” vinyl tiles and entry solutions produced by Milliken are now carbon neutral, offsetting the carbon emissions of raw materials and the carbon footprint of production [1] thanks to the offsets Verified Carbon Standard certified carbons. This announcement, which is part of the Floor covering division's M / PACT program, underlines the manufacturer's commitment to sustainable development, through its actions to reduce carbon emissions, with the aim of continuing the fight against climate change.
"In order to ensure a sustainable future, we must set ourselves ambitious goals and develop world-class expertise.", says Halsey Cook, President and CEO of Milliken & Company. “By using our scientific expertise across multiple industries, we can develop sustainable products. We can also make sure that we do our utmost to manufacture these products responsibly. Collaboration and collective efforts will enable us to move forward towards a sustainable future. "
In its M / PACT program, a carbon neutrality initiative led by the Milliken Floor covering division, the company is committed to reducing its carbon emissions and the production of waste. "We always strive to eliminate non-essential materials from our products, use recycled materials and reduce our dependence on petroleum," said Jim McCallum, president of Milliken Flooring and executive vice president of Milliken & Company. "Our floor coverings have full material traceability. We favor regional sourcing of materials and we manufacture our products locally in order to optimize transport by limiting distances." Milliken hopes to develop long-term partnerships with architects, designers, businesses and other clients around the world who share the company's environmental commitment.
In recent years, Milliken floor coverings have won over the interior design community with the aesthetics and technical performance of the product lines. Beautiful design also refers to the concept of product sustainability.
"Our M / PACT program proves that floor coverings can meet design and performance expectations while taking environmental issues into account", adds McCallum. "Each of us can take action, and we look forward to continuing the work and dialogue around climate change through our M / PACT program."
