Built by the Saudi Binladin Group, the Kingdom Tower is expected to reach over 1 kilometer high upon delivery in 2018 and will house offices, a Four Seasons hotel with serviced apartments, residential apartments, as well as the highest vantage point in existence. .
KONE was chosen by Jeddah Economic Co, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Al-Walid bin Talal bin Abdelaziz Al Saoud, to install 65 elevators and escalators, and ensure their maintenance for a minimum period of 10 years.
In addition to providing smooth and comfortable movements of people (People Flow), the installation of KONE solutions will allow the Kingdom Tower to have:
- the fastest double-deck elevator in the world with a travel speed of 10 meters per second,
- and the one allowing the longest possible journey in one piece: 660 meters.
Among the KONE products that will equip this flagship tower, 7 elevators KONE DoubleDeck Mini SpaceTM will be fitted with traction cables KONE UltraRope ™.
This new technology revolutionizes the high-rise building market by pushing the limits of vertical travel up to 1 kilometer - twice the distance achievable today.It eliminates the disadvantages of traditional steel cables and opens up new perspectives in design. towers - an important development in view of the increasing urbanization which is attracting more and more people to the cities.
KONE will also equip Kingdom Tower with 21 elevators KONE MonoSpace®, 29 elevators KONE Mini Space and 8 escalators KONE TravelMaster 110.
To ensure aesthetic harmony with the unique style of the tower, KONE will offer the Saudi Binladin Group a wide choice of modern and designer cladding for elevator cabins and landing doors. The Kingdom Tower will also be equipped with solutions from the brand new KONE People Flow Intelligence range:
- the destination management system KONE PolarisTM,
- the KONE InfoScreen display system in the cabin or outside (information on the floor, images, news, weather, advertisements, etc.),
- le KONE E-LinkTM which makes it possible to remotely manage all of its installations and to access, in real time, information relating to their operating status: monitoring and recording of anomalies, consultation of the history, etc.

The Kingdom Tower is the centerpiece of the first phase of construction of the Kingdom City project, located along the Red Sea north of Jeddah. Encompassing a construction area of 530 m², the Kingdom Tower was designed by architectural firm Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill Architecture. The building permit was granted to the Saudi Bin Laden Group. Dar Al Hansada is overseeing the progress of this project in collaboration with the prime contractor, EC Harris / Mace JV.
