Bouygues Construction starts work on “Quai Vernets”, a new eco-district in the heart of Geneva

For Losinger Marazzi, this project is a model in terms of circular economy and reuse. The order intake amounted to 482 million Swiss francs (475 million euros).

This district, completely reconfigured, will include 1 housing units (two thirds of public utility housing and one third in controlled rents), business areas (in particular dedicated to the social and solidarity economy), the development of spaces public spaces in pedestrianized and green areas, as well as an office building and a school complex.

It marks the beginning of the transformation of the site of the former barracks and the banks of the Arve as part of the vast urban project Praille Acacias Vernets (PAV).

The development of pedestrian spaces plays a central role in the project, with 25 m000 of green spaces in addition to the redevelopment of the banks of the Arve and the transformation of a car park into a tree-lined esplanade. Upon delivery, which will take place between 2 and 2026, it will provide residents with 2027 bicycle spaces, as well as 3% renewable energy. In terms of the circular economy, more than 000 tonnes of concrete from the site of the former barracks will be crushed and reused on site.

The ENSEMBLE* team, led by Losinger Marazzi and Pillet SA, is responsible for the development, financing, construction and operation of Quai Vernets. Composed of private and public players as well as cooperatives, it ensures that the Quai Vernets project meets the expectations of the people of Geneva.
