World leader in clay bricks, Wienerberger has constantly demonstrated its ability to offer creative innovations, regularly revolutionizing the construction market (the first monomur brick, the Dryfix® implementation binder, the self- Climamur® insulation…).
Ongoing innovation to meet regulatory and environmental requirements
Reducing the carbon impact of buildings, continuing to improve their energy performance and guaranteeing coolness during scorching summers: these are the main objectives of RE2020, which applies to new constructions since January 1, 2022.
To respond to this, Wienerberger, with its Porotherm brand, has developed various brick solutions over the years (GF R20, CITIbric®, HOMEbric®, GF R20 Th+), characterized by high thermal performance (R = 1,01 m².K/W to R = 1,45 m².K/W) and adapted to different markets (collective, individual, economic housing, etc.), as part of standard masonry 20 cm thick.
At the same time, Wienerberger developed Climamur®, the first brick with integrated insulation with structural and insulating powers, available in thicknesses from 30 to 42 cm thick (R = up to 5,41 m².K/W) to respond to the distributed insulation market.
With ISObric®, the first 20 cm thick brick with integrated insulation, Wienerberger is taking a new step and intends to revolutionize the structural wall construction sector.
ISObric®, the “brick of 20” with unique thermal performance
New generation of 20 cm brick, ISObric® benefits from the industrial expertise of Wienerberger and the know-how acquired during the development of Climamur® to present an original composition of 3 rows of cells filled with hydrophobic rock wool insulation (3 x 40 mm).
Thanks to its exclusive composition, ISObric® has an R = 2 and thus displays the best thermal performance in terracotta masonry 20 cm thick.
A real high-performance response to RE2020 on the objective of energy sobriety, ISObric® ensures 30 to 45% of the performance of the wall.ISObric® thus makes it possible to ensure optimal thermal comfort while maintaining simple thermal insulation from the inside for a controlled construction system (R finished wall > 5 with a lining 10 +100 Th32).
In the calculation of the bioclimatic need (Bbio), it provides a gain of 2,4 points in a single-storey single-family house and 5 points in a R+1 single-family house (vs. brick R = 1 with equivalent insulation).
Thanks to its high performance, the ISObric solution® of Porotherm is suitable for individual houses as well as collective housing and tertiary buildings.
A concentrate of advantages
In addition to its qualities for ensuring optimal comfort in both summer and winter, ISObric® also has many advantages to meet the expectations of the various construction stakeholders (public/private project owners, design offices, Cmistes, companies and craftsmen, traders, project individuals, etc.):
- ISObric® offers a gain in living space with a reduction in interior lining thickness of 4 to 6 cm compared to ordinary masonry, depending on the climate zone
- Eco-designed, ISObric® weighs less than 18,5 kg, allowing a reduction in its carbon impact
- Lighter, its weight also ensures easier implementation on site.
- Easy to install, it is compatible with installation with Dryfix® or Rolled Masonry® to ensure increased performance
- Thanks to the rock wool imprisoned and held by lugs (REI 30 to 150 kN/m with PSE 10+120 lining), it provides very good fire resistance in the event of a fire
All the qualities of Wienerberger terracotta solutions
2 in 1 solution, combining structural brick and insulation, ISObric® has all the recognized qualities of Wienerberger terracotta solutions:
- Local manufacturing, 100% French, exploiting geo-sourced clays, located near its production sites (< 30 km) and ensuring short circuit distribution with a limited transport impact
- A 100% mineral, natural and healthy material to preserve indoor air quality (without VOCs or risk of mould)
- Hydrophobic, mineral wool ensures ISObric® moisture resistance. The migration of water vapor is regulated by the capillarity of the rock wool and the porosity of the terracotta
- Finally, non-combustible (A1) it guarantees high fire resistance
- Lasting more than 100 years, it ensures the durability of the heritage and retains its thermal performance without the risk of the insulation settling over time. Rot-proof and unalterable, ISObric® is insensitive to insects, rodents and moisture
Innovative, ISObric® nevertheless does not lead to any change in installation habits thanks to its standard 500 x 200 x 299 format (compatible with current accessories). The brick can be associated with dedicated isolated accessories (post brick) and half-board. It remains a robust plaster support thanks to the reinforced outer walls.
