Bad weather, UV, pollution, exterior wood bears the brunt of all external aggressions. They resist more or less well depending on the way they were installed, their initial protection - or its absence -, their exposure, the climate.
Over time, wooden structures will suffer from climatic attacks and damage from water and UV rays. They will inevitably age, so you have to put yourself in maintenance mode. This reflex is not necessarily shared by everyone and for some it amounts to an additional expense that can be postponed over time. Unfortunately, this is a bad calculation because without maintenance, wood ages, grays, deteriorates, and after several years, it can require a long and costly renovation, much heavier than maintenance carried out on time and far away. the first eco-responsible asset provided by wood...
Building with wood is a wonderful choice and to last, protection and maintenance must be part of the equation from the start. It is essential to think about finishing, but also maintenance when you start working with wood.
When they are dirty, tarnished or clogged, the wood must be cleaned and this step should not be neglected.
In fact, putting a finish on wood that has been roughly cleaned or lightly sanded means wasting money, time and product, with the risk of having to start all over again.
Cleaning is therefore the first rule of the code of good conduct with wood! It must be a reflex, like cleaning your skin before applying a cream!
Aged, gray, dirty, dirty wood, what action can you take to regain its former appearance?
You have to decipher the wood and choose the appropriate cleaning formula. When weathered, wood can appear in various forms of gray: from light gray for tarnished wood, to blackened, dirty wood. It may also have an old, very film-forming coating.
Cleaning: instructions for use following shades of gray/aging
If the wood is gray and tarnished
In general, it has been exposed to bad weather, possibly without previous protection and has undergone the “water + UV + pollution” aging cycle. You have to sober it up to restore its shine.
If the wood is blackened
It is clogged with greasy dirt embedded in the fibers, often oils baked in the sun. Only the action of an oil remover will remove oils clogged with UV rays.
If the wood is covered with an old, heavily encrusted or film-forming finish
It must be completely removed; the only effective action is stripping.

An 89% biosourced formula, easily biodegradable to sober up wood
Keen to work towards ever greater eco-responsibility, Durieu's R&D teams have developed a new formula for Net-Trol 200.
Sober up with Net-Trol 200
Net-Trol®200 and its new 89% biosourced formula, easily biodegradable, retains all its performance intact as well as its premium qualities. Its action cleans, revives and restores the wood to its original appearance.
Sober up instructions for use: the gel formula of Net-Trol 200 facilitates its application, helps prevent dripping, it is ideal for vertical surfaces. Its ultra-wetting power allows it to act in 15 minutes. After rinsing, the support is as original.
NB: the effectiveness of the gray remover implies that the support does not have any film on the surface otherwise its action would give no result, in this case, it is necessary to remove oil or strip.
Reminder: what is biosourced?
A biosourced material comes from renewable organic matter (biomass), of plant or animal origin. Coming from everything that comes from the living world, it is distinguished from fossil materials but also from materials from the mineral world. The use of a biosourced material makes it possible to limit the carbon footprint of the product.
De-oil with Net-Trol 400
De-oil instructions for use: when wood is blackened, it is clogged with oils clogged with UV rays which clog its pores. Thanks to its gel formula and its strong wetting power, Net-Trol®400 penetrates into the wood to dissolve all the agglomerated greases which come off when rinsed. It acts quickly in 15/30 minutes of application, then rinsing and the support is like new.
NB: you must always neutralize a support after using Net-Trol®400.
Stripping with Dilunet
Stripping instructions for use: when the wood is heavily soiled or contains old film-forming residue, it must be stripped. The gel formulation of Dilunet® and its extreme wetting power allow it to eliminate all old layers (up to 8) of paints, stains or varnishes and to remove stubborn stains.
The advantage: solvent-free, Dilunet® does not dry out and remains active for a long time, which guarantees the total elimination of the various coatings.
NB: you must always neutralize a support after using Dilunet®.
Good to know: These 3 products are also available in a consumer version: Net-Trol®/Aquanett®/Dilunet®.
