The State mobilizes research on the major issues facing rural areas

The research work will document the major issues facing small towns and rural areas: water and resource management, but also land management, living together, employment and activity, rural lifestyles, ecological transition, etc. This device, called POPSU Territories, comes in support of the government action carried out within the framework of the Small Towns of Tomorrow program.

Dominique Faure also announced the launch of a major documentary mission on rural areas, in order to constitute an unprecedented collection of reports on rural territories, which includes:

• A collection of works by Éditions Autre, Les Carnets de Territoires, which summarize the issues of public policy in small towns and rural areas;
• A national photographic mission on ruralities, which documents landscapes and activities in ruralities;
• A series of video documentaries, “Small Town Portraits” and podcasts.

Finally, Dominique Faure announced the launch of a prize list of young researchers and designers in rural areas. This award will promote the commitment of students in town planning, architecture, political science (etc.), who produce end-of-studies work on ruralities (dissertations, architectural projects, collective projects, theses, etc.). They help to produce knowledge, to have experience feedback, and they therefore form the territorial action of tomorrow.
