Environment: Sustainability and environmental management
Cosentino demonstrates its commitment to the circular economy and the reduction of its carbon footprint through a series of actions such as the use of 99% reused water, zero water loss (daily treatment and recirculation of 800 000 m3 of water), the use of 100% renewable electrical energy and the development of sustainable products such as Dekton®, a carbon-neutral product over its entire life cycle, and HybriQ+® technology for Silestone® products.
In 2021 alone, Cosentino invested nearly 30 million euros in environmental assets and environmental improvement costs.
Among the complementary actions put in place is the production of more than 3 million m2 of slabs from recycled or recovered materials (nearly a third of the company's total production) for 2021 alone. possible thanks to the group's waste treatment plant, which enabled the company to manage 400 tonnes of solid waste in 000, of which 2021% was recovered, thus increasing the share of recycled raw materials used to 13% .
Last year, Cosentino implemented a new industrial energy model based on renewable energy sources and self-consumption, which also covers the management of water resources. Over the next few weeks, Cosentino will install the largest self-consumption photovoltaic plant on the ground in Spain. The plant will have a peak power of 20 MW and an energy production capacity of approximately 34 GWH/year, which will be supplemented by the installation of solar panels on the roofs of the factories. At the same time, Cosentino is building its own wastewater recovery plant. This plant, which should be operational this year, will reuse wastewater discharged by neighboring municipalities.

In 2021, Cosentino remains committed to quality employment and created nearly 700 new positions, ending 2021 with a workforce of 5 employees. Finally, the company made multiple direct donations to various organizations and associations for a total of more than one million euros, which is 20% more than in 2020.
