Today, heat represents almost half of the energy consumed and only a quarter of this heat comes from renewable energy sources.
Yes, it is urgent to develop renewable heat and cold as much as to recover lost heat.
Fedene welcomes the presence in this project of a renewable heat and cold objective.
This is the first time that cold is mentioned in the law: this reflects a real awareness of the fact that, to adapt to climate change, it is essential to develop virtuous cooling methods, such as cold networks. or geothermal heat pumps.
However, she regrets the absence of mention of recovery heat, heat from factory ovens, waste, data centers, etc.
However, these resources, still largely unused in France, are essential to achieve the objectives of heat defossilization. To succeed, it will be necessary to mobilize all resources: these, geothermal energy, solar thermal, wood energy.
But beyond the objectives, what is key is to commit now to the means to achieve these objectives: 2030 is tomorrow.
In its response to the consultation relating to the draft French energy - climate strategy, made public at the end of last year, Fedene welcomed the Government's desire to save energy and massify heat and cold. renewable and recovery, in buildings as in industry, and acceleration of the development of heat and cold networks. To meet France's commitments to combat climate change by 2030, it is urgent to accelerate the pace of projects if we want to gradually reduce our energy consumption and green our heat consumption.
Concrete and effective measures must be put in place quickly to ensure that these objectives are achieved.
In its response, Fedene makes several proposals for:
- further improve certain existing systems (CEE, accumulation of heat fund and CEE aid, CPE with obligation of results, etc.);
- revise upwards the trajectory of the Heat Fund;
- create new tools to facilitate the financing of industrial waste heat recovery projects (waste heat guarantee fund);
- better exploit the heat potential of waste recovery;
- specify the growth trajectory of biomass uses and establish a shared diagnosis of the use of biomass, with the establishment of management of the evaluation of resources and monitoring of its use.
To quickly implement the ambition displayed in the SFEC, all the companies united within Fedene are awaiting a strong commitment from the Government to publish the new PPE as quickly as possible and to launch it, without waiting for the outcome legislative debates, the necessary concrete measures.
Cold heat, renewable energies AND recovery, it is now that this is happening.
