Supply prices, excluding VAT, on the French market increased by +35 to +54% for professional consumers of diesel and RNG, by +53% for heating oil between the beginning of January and the beginning of March 2022.
International prices, fiscal and parafiscal charges weighing on products have resulted in consumer selling prices never reached in the past, even in times of real supply crisis.
However, France does not currently have any proven supply problem, at the present time.
These increases, unprecedented in their scope and brutality, are clearly the result of speculative pressures currently at work, far upstream in the supply chains.
This unprecedented situation must challenge the public authorities.
After announcing measures to avoid the doubling of electricity or gas bills, urgent measures are needed so that professional consumers and households are not alone in the face of oil speculation. VAT, increasing mechanically with rising prices, amplifies the negative impact on the consumer.
