Rabot Dutilleul announces the death of René Dutilleul

Son of the founder Barthélémy Dutilleul, he joined the family business in 1945 where he worked with passion for its development to make it the building group that we know today. Close to men and construction sites, he leaves a sweet memory to all those they knew him: that of a great man and a great entrepreneur.

It is a double anniversary that the northern construction company, Rabot Dutilleul Construction, celebrated in 2020. That of the centenary of its creation by Henri Rabot and Barthélémy Dutilleul, and that of one of its emblematic leaders: René Dutilleul.

Born in 1920, this engineer by training joined the company after the war. He was then 25 years old and quickly asserted himself as his father's indispensable second. It forges strong links with major entrepreneurs in the North of France and directs activities towards the construction of industrial buildings.

In 1954, accompanied by André Chantraine (son-in-law of Henri Rabot), he succeeded his father and then took over the General Management of Rabot Dutilleul in 1963. Attentive to the transformation of the territory, he initiated the diversification of the activities of the business. He thus follows the emergence of large-scale distribution and mail-order sales, and participates in it with the construction of numerous buildings for Les 3 Suisses, La Redoute and even Auchan.

René Dutilleul believed in Man and he based his strength on this mutual trust. When he retired in 1986, Rabot Dutilleul had nearly 400 employees. His successors, Jean-François (his son), Jean-François Craye and Jean-Pierre Sternheim (his sons-in-law), will never stop pursuing his work, before giving way to the 4th generation, represented by François Dutilleul , Chairman of the Group, Frédéric Sternheim, Pierre Craye and Eric Dutilleul. Today, the century-old group has 1 employees and ranks among the top 100 independent French construction groups.

The funeral will take place in the greatest family privacy.
