Domestic fuel oil: the FF3C judges the position of the senators in favor of biofuel "coherent and fair"

Senators voted in favor of its gradual replacement by a liquid biofuel - biofuel - incorporated from next year, up to 30% in domestic fuel: "The State creates the conditions so that the renewable share of liquid heating fuels is at least equal to 30% of the final energy consumption of liquid heating fuels in 2030"

Claude Malhuret, Senator from Allier, underlined the interest of "Actively support the establishment of a rapid process to replace fossil fuel oil with a renewable bioliquid", which "Would make it possible to reduce greenhouse gas emissions linked to the use of domestic fuel oil". The senator also recalled that "The incorporation of a bioliquid in domestic fuel oil resulting in a 50 to 70% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, the development of the incorporation of this bioliquid would also make it possible to preserve the heating method of the most far from large metropolises ”.

This senatorial vote comes in the wake of the report by the deputy of Vaucluse Julien Aubert, presented to the finance committee at the National Assembly on June 3, calling on the government to adapt the trajectory of “elimination of fuel oil equipment” defined in 2018 to the situation of the territories.

The plenary session of the 2021 Professional Meetings of the distribution of fuels and fuels took note of this progress for the trajectory of replacing fossil domestic fuel oil.

For its part, the government has indicated that it wishes to ensure the compatibility of the boilers with biofuel before being able to approve its development. Preparing for the transition from domestic fuel oil to biofuel for 3 years, the FF3C is now able to guarantee the professionals of the sector as well as the consumers the full technological compatibility of the materials. Tests, in the process of being finalized, should confirm this technological compatibility from the start of the school year in September. Several manufacturers have already announced the compatibility of their equipment with a bioliquid containing up to 30% rapeseed ester, materialized by a “Biofioul ready” marking.

The FF3C also underlines the place of farmers in the French vegetable oils and proteins sector, represented by the French Federation of Oleaginous and Proteinseed Producers (FOP), in the transition from domestic fuel oil to biofuel. Indeed, the development of biofuel offers a new outlet for the production of French vegetable proteins for animal feed thanks to the concomitant use of the oil and the protein contained in the rapeseed. Its implementation will thus contribute to France's protein sovereignty, the objectives and means of which were formalized in the Protein Plan presented by the Minister of Agriculture on December 1, 2020.
