A sector for recycling excavated soil into topsoil created for the first time in Ile-de-France

Created by a former senior executive of Suez, Terre Utile offers a circular economy solution to the problem of intensive stripping of topsoil in the regions, which feeds landscaping projects in Ile-de-France every day.

Using earth excavated from construction sites, which often ends up transported to landfill for a high carbon footprint, Terre Utile has joined forces with the Microhumus design office to recreate NFU 44-551 topsoil on platforms near construction sites, delivered with a technical sheet of 15 evaluation points.

Winner in June of the call for projects from the Société du Grand Paris in the category "new avenues for the circular economy", Terre Utile completed in 2022 its first production of recycled earth in Seine Saint Denis, from the earth excavated from a construction site of the lessor Seine Saint Denis Habitat. This recycled topsoil saved an average of 5,5 kg of carbon per m3 of topsoil.

Since August 2022, the recycled topsoil Terre Utile has also been installed on the temporary occupation site of the ZAC Python Duvernois, in the 20th arrondissement of Paris.

The recycling process had already been tested on several landscaping projects in Lyon and Bordeaux in particular, but the Terre Utile sector now allows landscaping professionals to obtain recycled topsoil when they wish at the price of conventional topsoil. , and thus fulfill some of their CSR objectives by using a 100% recycled and low-carbon product.
