Implementation of the REP sector: anger rises in the building and raises serious concerns from the FFB

Three subjects crystallize this anger:

• the non-effectiveness of the free recovery;
• the absence, accentuated by a context of inflation and historic housing crisis, of visibility on the amounts of eco-contributions which will apply to products purchased for the 2024 projects and which must be integrated today into the costs ;
• the exceptional treatment reserved for flat glass.

Concerning the free recovery of sorted waste, even if everyone is aware of the necessary progressiveness, professionals pay an eco-contribution without the collection system beginning to be truly operational, particularly in rural areas and for waste not inert. In addition, the complexity of the recovery terms imposed, which differ between eco-organizations, accentuates this frustration.

The FFB is therefore asking to accelerate the deployment of the territorial network of waste collection points so that collection is put in place without delay on construction sites and in companies, solutions which today are put in the background by eco-organizations.

The FFB reiterates its request for official communication of changes in eco-contributions with a minimum notice of nine months so that companies and craftsmen can integrate them into the quotes they submit today for projects they will carry out in 2024.

For Olivier Salleron, president of the FFB: “On the ground, the shortcut is that we are now paying a new tax (the amount of which could be multiplied by 3, 5 or 10 next year) without any real service in return. It is absolutely essential to get back to the table with the government to find solutions aimed at making the system more efficient by controlling costs. »
