The ISO 14001 international standard encourages companies and organizations to become involved in the preservation of the environment on a long-term basis, in particular by setting the principles of a management system that respects good environmental practices.
Under the impetus of Nicolas Lorthioir, Director of the Sury-le-Comtal plant, and Marion Artillan-Gillier, HSE Manager, Unilin Insulation has been committed, since September 2021, to formalizing its environmental approach by through obtaining ISO 14001 certification.
A first audit showed that the operational management of the site complied with the principles of environmental management but that it was nevertheless necessary to improve document management to achieve the objectives of the certification.
Thanks to the involvement of all employees and the use of the new daily management system (DMS), made up of essential elements that promote operational performance, Unilin Insulation's Sury-le-Comtal plant has passed successfully passed the ISO 14001 audit in December 2022. It was then ISO 14001 certified by the QAS International approved body.
"Obtaining this ISO 14001 certification required the involvement of everyone, management and staff of the company and proves that we are a responsible insulation manufacturer"explains Nicolas Lorthioir, Site Director.
"This approach demonstrated that we had already adopted good practices in favor of the environment within the factory: no discharge either into the water or into the ground, recycling of polyurethane scraps and packaging, solar panel project. All that remained was to certify them and it was done! », adds Marion Artillan-Gillier, HSE Manager.
The ISO 14001 certification of the Sury-le-Comtal plant marks a new step forward for Unilin Insulation in the objectives of its “One Home” CSR policy to be achieved by 2050, the ultimate objective of carbon neutrality. The first results are expected in the short term (2025 – 2030), Unilin having committed to quickly put actions in place to achieve the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
