RE2020: Manufacturers of electric heaters and thermodynamic water heaters call on the government

With the RE2020, France is making a proactive commitment to carbon neutrality but is preparing to condemn certain low-carbon heating and hot water solutions for the homes of tomorrow!

Do without carbon-free and efficient solutions?

Indeed, the project, as it is known today, will rule out, in the construction of new individual and collective housing, the use of latest generation electric radiators, connected and equipped with intelligent control systems, and heaters. thermodynamic water, whose main source of energy is renewable. It will thus permanently deprive France of efficient and carbon-free solutions.

Installation of gas equipment until 2024 in collective housing: ecological nonsense

The authorization granted to the installation of gas solutions in collective housing until 2024, yet contrary to the ambition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, is equivalent to a right to emit C02 and this, minimum, for the next 50 years. It is therefore a safe bet that this choice will amount to penalizing the purchasing power of future generations who will have to bear the financial cost of the necessary conversion to a clean and carbon-free system.

In the long term, a certain additional cost for French households

In addition, the facilities favored by this regulatory project would represent a significant additional cost for French households without being suitable for all types of housing. As a general rule, the acquisition and installation of latest generation electric radiators and thermodynamic water heaters allow savings of around 50% compared to those of a heat pump (5.000 to 6.000 € compared to 8.000 to 11.000 €).

The development prospects of a French industry condemned

Finally, this project would condemn the prospects for the development of a French thermal industry recognized worldwide, innovative, located in the heart of the territories in nine French regions and with more than 7.500 direct jobs. There are also more than 40.000 indirect jobs - suppliers, distributors and installers - involved nationwide.

For all these reasons, manufacturers are calling for regulations allowing the deployment of all carbon-free heating and hot water production technologies, an essential decision for an entire industry and for future generations.
