Guide to designing a permeable car park with O2D systems

In order to support local authorities and companies in their permeabilization work but also to limit the obstacles to the development of permeable soils in the city, O2D is today publishing its guide to help with the design of permeable car parks taking up the principles of basis of their implementation but also the main mistakes to avoid. For the company, this is a question of proving that whatever the composition of the soil or the local constraints, there is an O2D solution allowing direct infiltration or at least the creation of temporary storage spaces leaving water gradually infiltrate.

First of all, the guide reviews the preliminary stages of a stormwater management project during which certain studies are essential. It is in fact necessary to study the hydrogeological context beforehand (nature and permeability of the supporting soil, piezometric level of the groundwater), the topographical context, the hydraulic design (volume of rainwater to be managed by the project) and finally the possible buffering needs. Secondly, the guide focuses on the criteria for setting up a capping layer (or sub-foundation) for projects where the permeability of the supporting soil is not sufficient to infiltrate all the rainwater. and/or if the bearing capacity of this same floor is not suitable for the intended end use. Finally, the guide goes over the different design principles for a permeable car park project if the permeability coefficients of the supporting soil are good or bad.
