Coénove is concerned about the consequences of the future climate law on the energy mix

The definition of a “high-performance” renovation limited to categories A and B alone shows an ambition that is certainly proactive, but which will exclude energies that are nevertheless essential to the achievement of energy transition objectives, even though the General Management of energy and climate indicated in a recent memo that a fleet at level A, B or C would allow it to meet the carbon neutrality objectives in 2050.

You should know that, due to the sole carbon criterion, gas homes are excluded from class B, even the most efficient ones, meeting the requirements of the current RT, RT 2012. Remember that, at the same time, the Energy threshold of this same class B has been loosened, going from 90 kWh Ep / year / m2 to 110 ... Funny performance! But the Senators do not seem to have seen the maneuver!

The regulations that would result from this bill would therefore exclude gas solutions and overwhelmingly direct the so-called efficient renovation towards electrical solutions with the following inevitable consequences:

• Worsening of electricity peaks requiring the reinforcement of electricity transmission infrastructure at a high cost,
• Restriction of the choices given to households to very expensive solutions (air / water heat pump, wood boilers, etc.), which raises the question of the sustainability of this measure and its impact on the decision to renovate.

These amendments also lead to the discrimination of renewable gas with a carbon threshold that is inaccessible in the short term, while the site of its deployment is largely underway.

By wanting to wash whiter than white by excluding well-established solutions whose greening is in progress, there is the risk of ultimately slowing down the renovation and missing out on the objective.
