Batimat and Off-Site Campus launch a prospective barometer for the Off-Site construction sector

Based on an annual survey, its ambition is to identify the levers to be activated to promote the development of this new approach to construction, making it possible to respond to the major challenges of decarbonization, digitalization, the scalability of uses and control of costs and production deadlines.

Today, a key subject in the construction industry, Off-Site continues to develop in France but still remains far from the performance recorded in the main European countries. The ACIM (Association of Industrialized and Modular Construction) thus estimates that the French market represents in 2019 a turnover of 854 M € and a workforce of 3.688 employees for a volume of 439.000 m² of units located.

In 2019, spotlight on an announced revolution

A pioneer of innovation, in 2019 BATIMAT put the spotlight on the Off-Site construction sector through an exhibition space of 1.000 m² inaugurated by Julien Denormandie, then Minister in charge of the City and Housing.

During this edition, various highlights were also organized to promote new cooperation between historical players in the building industry and industrial players: an international conference, which welcomed more than 200 participants and leading experts such as Mark Farmer, a program of conferences and 37 workshops offering different themes every day: the Off-Site sector, materials, architecture, digital and existing techniques.

An unprecedented study

In order to support the Off-Site construction sector and accelerate the recovery of the building in France, BATIMAT et Off-Site Campus create a prospective barometer for the off-site construction sector in France.

Each year, this will be based on the results of a national survey to develop a shared vision of the challenges of the Off-Site sector by identifying:

• The level of professional knowledge of the market, the techniques, the advantages of Off-Site construction;
• The evolution of the degree of implementation of this constructive process;
• The expectations of professionals and the obstacles to be removed to accelerate its development.

Started on June 2, the survey is open to all concerned professionals who can respond to a questionnaire published online and available via this LINK.

The results will be shared in September 2021.

BATIMAT 2022: a major system

In 2022, this study will be carried out once again. It will enrich the large-scale system deployed during the next edition of BATIMAT, which will take place from October 3 to 6, 2022.

Off-Site construction will once again be placed in the spotlight in a totally dedicated space, in Pavilion 1 of the Paris Expo Park at Porte de Versailles.

A new "Grand Colloque" and specific workshops will also be offered during the days of the show to those involved in construction.
