- After Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Switzerland, the SME is continuing its strategic expansion in France.
- EET Solaire estimates that 22 million homes in France are able to accommodate an energy self-consumption solution. An initiative that is in line with the Ministry of Ecological Transition, whose energy sobriety plan aims to reduce France's energy consumption by 10% (1).
- Since 2017, EET Solaire has been working with European energy distributors, small businesses and local artisans to promote the growth of the Plug&Play solar sector.
- EET Solaire uses digital markets to take its place with French resellers.
Energy autonomy for homes as a solution to the crisis
EET Solaire was co-founded in 2017 by Christoph Grimmer, Stephan Weinberger and Florian Gebetsroither, then researchers at the Technical University of Graz in Austria. Their objective was to make technologies accessible on a large scale, in order to give everyone the opportunity to benefit from photovoltaics and contribute to the fight against climate change. Setting up an efficient photovoltaic installation was until now very expensive and complex.
After having sold more than 25.000 solar kits in Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Portugal over the last five years, EET Solaire is taking its place in French homes.
For Christoph Grimmer, CEO and co-founder of EET Solaire: “We see it through our discussions with engaged citizens across Europe: the theme of autonomous and decentralized energy production is highly relevant. This is all the more true in France, where the government has announced the gradual end of the tariff shield between the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025 (2). France is the only country among the 27 member states of the European Union to have missed the objective set by a European directive. In 2022, the share of renewable energies in gross final energy consumption will only reach 20,7%, far from the expected 23% (3). »
Solutions to become consumer actors: LightMate and SolMate
“Plug & Play” photovoltaic kits with power ranging from 370 Watt to 800 Watt, LightMate and SolMate are solutions accessible to individuals with a house or apartment, whether they are owners or tenants. In fact, three types of installations are possible, on the balcony, in the garden and on a wall.
LightMate covers part of the home's daily electricity consumption during the day, linked to household appliances. This kit is very simple to install because it plugs directly into an electrical outlet. The administrative procedures for setting it up are also simplified, making it a practical solution for those who wish to get started with individual self-consumption of photovoltaic solar energy.
SolMate, the pioneering kit with storage battery, is arriving on the French market in 2024. Intuitive, installation takes less than an hour. This kit revolutionizes energy consumption and production. Indeed, SolMate's patented NetDetection technology accurately measures energy consumption and needs from any outlet, ensuring optimal usage. Real-time consumption information provided by the MySolMate app encourages energy savings. The intelligent system is also capable of providing backup power in the event of a power outage.
Leader in innovation in consumer solar energy: our lessons
In 6 years, the EET Solaire teams have seen a clear evolution in uses across Europe.
For Adélaïde Feldmann, Marketing and Sales Manager France at EET Solaire: “There is a clear change in mentality: the installation of panels on balconies, which was a niche market when we started, is today a hot topic for everyone. In addition, the solution provided by our storage system is, for many customers, a necessity to guarantee their energy independence. The savings made have allowed solar kits to gradually move from “nice to have” to “must-have” status. It is necessary to facilitate access to solar energy on balconies and facades by changing the mentalities of condominium associations and property managers regarding the integration of these systems into buildings. Sustainability and environmental protection are more important and have a more significant impact on the environment and our society than the appearance of a building. »
Marketplaces, these facilitators of energy autonomy
Direct online sales platforms like Leroy Merlin or E. Leclerc allow solar companies to present their panels to an informed audience, actively looking for hand-picked solutions.
As plug&play systems are easy to install, they can be purchased online. It is an opportunity for visibility for companies that have proven themselves abroad and are arriving on the French market, such as EET Solaire.
For Adelaide Feldmann: “We are open to business partnerships that share our vision and mission for a sustainable future. »
