For this project, MAF Atlantique immediately decided to partner with Enveloppe Façade Serrurerie (EFS). Indeed, the collaboration of a designer and builder of fire-resistant glazed joinery (MAF Atlantique) and a specialist in covered enclosures (EFS), expert in managing logistics and complex poses, was necessary to respond to the call of offer.
A complementarity of expertise at the service of “39 Colisée”
When MAF Atlantique discovers the specifications of the site, it immediately turns to its partner, EFS, to respond to them jointly. Together, they work on the response of the lot: distribution of the supply and installation for the firewall curtain wall.
The key: 500 m2 of glazed and fire-resistant surfaces made to measure by MAF Atlantique as well as logistics and installation provided by EFS in a patio rising over 5 levels. All the complexity of the site is based on its accessibility and a cramped work area.
To put the odds on their side, the two companies are working together on the execution plans via their respective design offices, but also on a methodology specific to this site for transport and installation logistics.
Indeed, the key lay in the packaging of the deliverables on site.
Bouygues Construction, confirmed in its choice and reassured by the complementarity of the two entities, therefore selected them to take charge of the lot. The first glazing was delivered and installed on site in November 2022, with acceptance scheduled for July 13.
For Guillaume Leborgne, director of MAF Atlantique : “An essential collaboration with the company EFS on this project of the “39 Colisée” where our complementary expertise allows us to intervene on non-standard curtain walls such as this one. We are committed to always going the extra mile in advising our clients. Through our design office, we offer solutions adapted to each specific site. »
An extraordinary curtain wall on 5 levels
MAF Atlantique's service revolved around the study phase, design, manufacturing and machining of all the works within its Guérande workshops as well as the site opinion regarding the technical specificities of the latter.
It was then EFS who took care of coordination, delivery logistics and installation with a specific methodology at this construction site.
Once the tender was won, MAF Atlantique imagined and manufactured a prototype (April 2022), to anticipate any hazards. This prototype, consisting of a 2,75 m long x 3,11 m high frame with a RAL 9007 metallic finish, demonstrated MAF Atlantique's expertise in supporting its customers and its desire to offer, via its design office, a suitable solution for the management of curtain wall construction sites like this one.
The entire curtain wall is held in place by aluminum clamping caps and made up of EW30 glazing mounted on a steel frame for walls up to 1700 x 2915 mm. The steel was selected for its mechanical strength and its resistance to fire (see technical drawing or cutting plan). All of the 130 panes is installed on the exterior walls all around the patio rising on 5 levels. They are all fire resistant with railings and benefit from acoustic, solar and thermal performance.
Reminder of the intervention:
- 6 months
- 500 m2 glass surfaces
- A steel curtain wall with aluminum clamping hoods
- 130 panes up to 1700 x 2915 mm
- EW30 glazing with acoustic, solar, thermal and railing performances
- Windows installed on the 5 levels of the curtain wall
“After many years of collaboration, we were delighted to support MAF Atlantique on this call for tenders. Our respective expertise and the methodology adapted to the specificity of this curtain wall enabled us to carry out this project in complete efficiency despite its accessibility constraints. » says Cédric Slowensky, CEO of EFS
“MAF Atlantique's support during the design phase via their design office and the manufacture of the prototype met our expectations. Also, we appreciated the relevance of their reflection with EFS on the specific logistics set up for this difficult to access site. » Says Benjamin Heraud, covered closed manager – CEA of Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France
A complex site due to its difficulty of access
As the site is located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, it is difficult to access it. In addition, the work area for installing the various panes is very cramped due to the configuration of the interior patio.
In order to simplify supply logistics, a relocated intermediate warehouse has been set up. Delivery to the site was carried out using a principle of palletization. That is to say that we bring level by level the different works according to the progress of the site. Anticipation and reflection on a methodology specific to this project were essential in order to avoid inherent hazards.
Through the “39 Colosseum” project, MAF Atlantique demonstrates its expertise on large volume projects and specific like here with this imposing curtain wall. The service provided by the MAF Atlantique and EFS consortium amounts to €800.000 excluding tax. It should be noted that curtain wall type projects represent approximately 20% of MAF Atlantique's activity.
