The office building on 412 West 15th Street, near Ninth Avenue, enriches the urban landscape of New York's Meatpacking District with a new distinctive element. The architecture and interior design of the new building blend harmoniously into the environment and dynamic spirit of this district. Designed by the architecture office CetraRuddy Architecture, the building includes a new 18-storey tower connected to an iconic 5-storey building to create an urban office campus.
Originally planned as a hotel, its use has been adapted to market developments to create a commercial and administrative building that generates higher economic profitability. The end result offers flexible and open-plan office space, with meeting and work areas that accommodate different business activities.
The new building presents itself with an elegant aluminum glazed facade, specially designed by WICONA for this project. WICONA's personalized solution is a curtain wall with WICTEC EL SG elements, a modular aluminum façade system suitable for large glazed areas, with structural glazing panels. The curtain wall elements are prefabricated and glazed directly from the factory and then assembled into complete individual units. This flexible system allows easy and tailor-made adaptation to specific project needs.
The tiling of the black terrazzo floors and the dark stainless steel of the facade blend perfectly into the surrounding structures. In addition, the ground floor of the new building is connected to the adjacent building on 413 West 14th Street, literally creating a link between the past and the future.
Another characteristic of the project is the absence of pillars on the upper floor to increase the flexible and open-plan nature of the different work and meeting areas. Both the structure and the glass facade offer panoramic views of the city and the Hudson River while bathing in natural light inside the building. The light transmission is reinforced by the exterior glazing, the height of the building and the layout of the terraces.
