Vinci uses AI for Bournemouth hospital construction project with Buildots

The technology, Buildots, automatically analyzes data captured on site by helmet-mounted 360-degree cameras. The platform then generates larger-than-life progress reports, supported by visuals, providing managers and stakeholders with accurate, objective data and in-depth analysis, which helps improve efficiency.

The new Royal Bournemouth Hospital building, the BEACH Building, will include a new maternity unit, children's unit, improved emergency department and intensive care unit. The total extension is 22.650 m² and the design meets modern standards and guidelines. It will also be a BREEAM Excellent building, placing it in the top 10% of UK buildings in terms of sustainability.

The construction works have been designed to minimize disruption to the Royal Bournemouth site for the duration of the project. The BEACH Building is due to open in early 2025 and is part of the £250million transformation of hospitals at University Hospitals Dorset, including hospitals in Poole and Christchurch.

The project is being carried out by UHD's transformation prime contractor, Integrated Health Projects (IHP) – an alliance between VINCI Construction UK and building and civil engineering firm Sir Robert McAlpine.
