UNOFI: a heat shield thanks to the Satin 5500 Low E fabric by Mermet

Thanks to the combination of different technical systems of insulation, heating and energy saving, etc., the office building offers its users maximum comfort while protecting the environment. A desire that Pitch Promotion, the historic partner of UNOFI, wanted to perfect by controlling light and glare.

"With the simultaneous objectives of:

• find an "efficient and aesthetic" canvas harmonizing with the façades structured by recesses and steps, which catch the eye and allow the creation of terraces for certain floors,
• eliminate backlighting in offices and especially on computer screens ”.

Pitch Promotion has chosen the Satiné 2.600 Low E fabric to equip the 2 m5500 of this new building, both for its aesthetics with contemporary design and for its remarkable efficiency. This transparent metallic fabric intervenes here as a building envelope and contributes to reducing the energy consumption linked to air conditioning, lighting and heating.

200 canvases for a total of 600 m2, implemented in the form of manual blinds, which equip all the narrow windows of great heights and punctuate the facades of this 4-storey building.

Satiné 5500 Low E technology

Launched on the market in 2013, the Satiné 5500 Low E is simply the best solution for indoor sun protection.

Thanks to metallization on both sides, this fabric is positioned as a real thermal barrier and has extraordinary properties for an interior blind:

• unequaled thermal protection: the fabric alone reflects 78% (Rs: 0,78) of solar energy and has a gtot of 0,13 with a type D reference glazing (gv = 0,32, U = 1,1); a level rarely reached for an interior transparent fabric. With an unequaled emissivity rate of 15%, it guarantees thermal comfort all year round and avoids the feeling of heat or cold given off by the glazing. The fabric acts here as an insulator of the glazing and thus ensures summer comfort and winter comfort for the occupants.
• excellent visual comfort thanks to:
  • total glare control with 96% of the light rays filtered, despite its metal color,
  • maintaining outward vision,
  • optimization of the supply of natural light (Tv = 4%).

In addition, the Satiné 5500 Low E:

• is classified as M1 fire and meets the requirements of establishments open to the public,
• has excellent durability: mechanical endurance test of 10.000 cycles: class 3 NF EN 13120,
• contributes to obtaining credits in eco-efficient building programs such as BEPOS, BBC, LEED and BREEAM.
