The ballet of the unions continues at Matignon, the blockage on pensions remains

Discussions resume at 10:45 a.m. with the president of the CFE-CGC, François Hommeril, followed at noon by that of the CFTC, Cyril Chabanier. The secretary general of the CGT, Sophie Binet, has an appointment at 17:00 p.m.

Asked about France Inter on Wednesday morning, the new number one of the CGT indicated that she would talk about "the demands of employees, the withdrawal of the pension reform, salary increases and the conditionality of public aid".

"We can no longer resume things as before (...). I want to negotiate with everyone around the table, bosses, unions and government," she said. "It's over to discuss the commas on the basis of a text from the government or employers".

Without a defined agenda, everyone will come with their priorities and the desire to put pensions back on the job. Like Frédéric Souillot, first of the receipts on Tuesday, for a "firm, on each side of the table" exchange.

"We opened the ball, but we did not dance", summed up the number one of Force Ouvrière when he left. "We talked about our demands", in particular on wages, but "we did not accept a timetable" for negotiations on other subjects than pensions.

"We just have to take things the right way: if this reform is withdrawn or does not apply, we will discuss" the rest, he added.

Less intransigent, Laurent Berger also told the Prime Minister of his "resentment" after months of social conflict tinged with a "form of contempt" and his "requirement" in the consultations to come.

"We will not be satisfied with scoops", warned the secretary general of the CFDT, unfolding his proposals on working conditions, wages, pensions, "subjects on which workers cannot wait" according to him.

Except that a shadow is already hanging over the fragile social dialogue: the deputies of the majority are working to torpedo the bill aimed at repealing the decline in the legal retirement age, supported by the unions.

"It would be unacceptable (that it) not be examined" as planned on June 8 in the Assembly, warned Mr. Berger, who calls with the inter-union for a 14th day of mobilization on June 6.

For Sophie Binet, it would be "extremely serious if the deputies were once again prevented from voting on this reform".

Some opponents "will not wait wisely" for these deadlines: the Network for the General Strike, which wants to "build a real balance of power" with the executive, calls for a rally at 16:00 p.m. near the Invalides, a few strides from Matignon.
