It is at the heart of this booming sector that DCNS, world leader in naval defense historically located at the Brest Arsenal, will relocate part of its tertiary and engineering activities in the fall of 2015. Supported by two Partner developers who are experts in commercial real estate, the Lamotte Group and ATI, the building that will host the DCNS benefits from thermal insulation from the outside using Façade 032B insulation from the Façade Pro range by Knauf Insulation.
A major real estate project for the Breton point
The largest private real estate program on the Breton point, the design of the future site which will be leased by the DCNS has been jointly entrusted to the architectural firm HB2A and the engineering firm ICC. With a total surface area of 9.264 m2 spread over three levels (R + 2), the comb-shaped building consists of four blocks and three articulation cores where the elevators and stairwells are located. The complex will eventually accommodate 8.300 m2 of offices, a company restaurant of 870 m2, a private room and a car park with 340 spaces.
Compliant with RT 2012, the site, whose construction began in June 2014, was designed in accordance with the most rigorous environmental standards. Already qualified NF HQETM Commercial buildings in the program and design phase, the building should confirm its NF HQE certificationTM Tertiary buildings on delivery by meeting the 14 targets of the HQE approachTM with 3 targets reaching the high performance level, 5 the performance level and 6 the basic level.
This performance was obtained thanks, among other things, to a reasoned management of water, a maximum supply of natural light, a revegetation of part of the roof and, from the first floor, a thermal insulation from the outside carried out by the company Bihannic, recognized specialist in the western region on the roofing / waterproofing / cladding market.
An efficient and aesthetic ITE
To meet the level of thermal performance required for the DCNS building, Marc Delgado of the Bihannic company was looking for "an ITE solution under ventilated cladding with technical advice and a good quality / price ratio". On the advice of Jean-François Legall, Finishing work manager at Point P Finistère Nord, he opted for the Façade Pro range from Knauf Insulation and more particularly the semi-rigid rolled Façade 032B panels in 160 mm glass mineral wool. thickness with a coefficient of thermal conductivity of 0,032 W / (mK), whose exceptional thermal resistance (R = 5 m2.K / W) met the requirements of this project perfectly.
Compatible with any type of cladding, this thermo-acoustic insulation coated with a black glass veil also won over the Bihannic company with “its brown color which, for open joint cladding, is a real aesthetic advantage”.
With a dimension of 600 x 2400 mm, these are more than 6.000 m2 of Facade 032B panels which will be installed on this site by the end of April 2015 for delivery of the program scheduled for the end of October 2015.
Simple and fast implementation
After having positioned the fixing brackets in the concrete, the company Bihannic proceeded to the horizontal installation of the insulation by facade.
Once the 032B Façade panels are fixed using dowels, the framework is placed on top of the insulation. The cladding made up of white composite panels for the facades and red for the stairwells is then installed on the framework while respecting the air space required for ventilation of the wall, between the insulation and the cladding. Indispensable, this ventilated air space thus avoids condensation on the surface of the wall by evacuating moisture from any infiltration of rainwater or water vapor transferred from the inside to the outside through the supporting structure.
A very high performance solution
Environmentally friendly thanks to the ECOSE process® Technology, the Façade 032B semi-rigid glass wool panels from the Façade Pro range from Knauf Insulation ensure the effective treatment of thermal-acoustic insulation from the outside of all types of cladding in accordance with the DTU or under Technical Assessment, exterior walls and facades in new as well as in renovation.
Covered with a black glass veil, Façade 032B panels are available from 80 to 200 mm thick in a single width of 600 mm. Easy and quick to install, they are perfectly suited to thermal insulation from the outside of the most important sites.
