A new Siemens building management system for the Paoli-Calmettes cancer institute (13)

In 2013, the Paoli-Calmettes institute wanted to change and modernize the technical management of its buildings in order to optimize the comfort and energy efficiency of the premises welcoming staff and patients. In particular, the new building “IPC 4” which will house four hematology care units on four levels, laboratories and a technical floor. These new premises adapted to the most advanced and safest standards of care required a reliable, intelligent and energy-efficient building management system. The Institute's Technical Services Department chose Siemens (Building Technologies division) for its comfort management and electrical distribution solution.

Siemens has equipped the Institute buildings with its Synco communicating HVAC control and monitoring devices and GAMMA switching actuators. This solution allows centralized technical management of buildings and rooms and energy-efficient adjustment of HVAC installations.

Air treatment and lighting, light, heating and air conditioning control equipment have also been installed in the 80 ISO rooms of the new IPC 4 building, housing care units with controlled atmosphere for immunocompromised patients.

In addition to energy savings, the solution proposed by Siemens simplifies the work of maintenance teams while ensuring the traceability of temperatures and hygrometry of operating theaters.

To carry out this large-scale project, Siemens worked with a group of companies within the framework of a “design / production” market: RC Climatisation for the Air-conditioning Ventilation Heating package, ATE for the management of thermal and IDtique equipment for the configuration and commissioning of high current, low current batch equipment as well as overall supervision for the INEO company.
