Mortgage rates in France fell a bit in November

This is a little less than the previous month - 1,21% - and, above all, it confirms that the rates are becoming more and more advantageous again after a sharp increase during the outbreak of the coronavirus health crisis in the spring and the first confinement. .

Their average level "returns practically to the level which was its before the implementation of the first containment", notes the observatory.

At the time, rates were at historically low levels, reflecting in particular the very favorable monetary policies for credit on the part of the European Central Bank (ECB).

From now on, "despite the strengthening of the economic and social crisis, (...) the banks continue to improve the conditions of the loans granted", assures the observatory.

However, this development does not benefit everyone in the same way, as conditions are less favorable for the poorest and the youngest.

"The borrowers (...) who do not have the best profiles - levels of income and personal contribution ... - have benefited from a rate cut a little slower than that of other borrowers, over the durations the longest ", underlines the observatory.

Beyond the health crisis, real estate professionals hold it responsible for the implementation, a year ago, of stricter measures by the financial authorities to tighten borrowing conditions a little.
