Collected nearly a billion euros for the Livret A in October

Specifically, the outflow, or negative collection, reached 940 million euros in October, details the Caisse des Dépôts in a press release.

This result is not really a surprise in itself, October being traditionally a month in which withdrawals often tend to exceed deposits. In October 2019, the amount of the outflow had reached more than two billion euros.

October 2020, however, marks the first month of outflow for the Livret A in 2020, a year marked by the Covid-19 crisis and during which savers have massively filled this investment, the gains of which are guaranteed, tax-exempt and all funds available to any time.

For its part, the Livret de développement durable et solidaire (LDDS) has undergone a similar development: the amounts of savings withdrawn from this investment exceeded the sums deposited by 80 million euros, which is also the first month of collection for this booklet since the beginning of the year.

Thus, the outflow recorded by the Livret A and the LDDS combined amounted in October to a little over one billion euros in total.

Notwithstanding this result, these two booklets continue to show a historically high level of collection since the beginning of the year, with almost 32 billion harvested between January and the end of October.

The Livret A mainly finances social housing, while the LDDS is dedicated to the social and solidarity economy as well as to energy savings in housing. At the end of October, 442,7 billion euros were placed in total on the two, an increase of just over 8% over one year.
