Berger calls for "concrete solutions" for "second line" workers

"Without these 'second line' workers, this is not the best name, our society would have collapsed" during this health crisis, he said at a press conference, recalling that he often involved women, working staggered hours, partial unemployment, suffered.

At the beginning of November, the Minister of Labor, Elisabeth Borne, announced the establishment of a mission on these workers, which should lead to an improvement in their remuneration or their training.

This mission identified a month later the sectors (building workers, home helpers, salesmen, security guards ...), a list that must be further refined before any negotiations are launched in the branches concerned "during the year 2021 ", had specified the ministry at the end of December.

"It has lasted too long, now we have to accelerate. We want concrete solutions," insisted Laurent Berger.

"That it is not wind, that it goes faster! The promises, it is very nice, but we can not wait indefinitely", he added, recalling that the unions put the subject on the table from the first confinement.

However, the branches, which affect "5,6 million workers", "are not proactive" on this subject, said the union official, urging the government to "force" them if the case did not advance.

Among the CFDT's proposals: a 15% salary increase in the social and medico-social sectors; renegotiation of salary scales; an obligation to set up complementary health insurance paid for by the employer; the suspension of the waiting day beyond March 31; a rebalanced sharing of values ​​between principals and service providers.

The CFDT is also calling for the creation of a low wages commission.

"A decent salary does not seem inaccessible to us," said Elisabeth Glandu, a home help, who came to testify for the CFDT to the "exhaustion" of these employees since the start of the crisis.
