That PSG did not apply for the purchase of the Stade de France contrary to what was expected on Wednesday, "is good news because we will be able to work seriously on the hypothesis of maintaining PSG at the Parc", confides Emmanuel Grégoire to newspaper Le Parisien.
“We understand that it is either this option, or a hypothetical new site, but we continue to think that the Park is the most secure solution, financially, technically and sportingly” for the club, he adds.
“We are therefore prepared to resume talks, as quickly as possible, with PSG to find a favorable outcome,” says Emmanuel Grégoire.
“Playing the 2027-2028 season in the new Parc des Princes” is “still a scenario within reach today,” he insists.
For Emmanuel Grégoire, "we must choose between several major implementation options, a sale or a long lease (very long term, Editor's note) whose duration must be discussed to allow PSG to amortize its investments."
PSG and Paris City Hall were at odds for several months, with Anne Hidalgo refusing to sell the Parc des Princes after receiving an offer deemed very insufficient.
PSG considers the acquisition of the stadium essential to carry out its expansion project to 60.000 seats - compared to around 48.000 seats currently. But also to take its economic model a step further following the example of several major European clubs, owners of their venue.
“Having the stadium is not going to make us rich or poor, but it is important to have a bigger and more modern stadium, safer for families,” underlined a source close to the club summit last September.
The acquisition of a minority stake in PSG's capital by the American fund Arctos Partners in December was seen by the club, among other motivations, as a way of providing new guarantees for the purchase of the Parc des Princes.
In the end, the State received three offers for the Stade de France on Wednesday, according to consistent sources. Two offers concern the renewal of the concession, the current consortium which operates the Stade de France, Vinci-Bouygues, and GL Event associated with Paris Entertainment Company (Accor Arena, Bataclan, and the future Arena La Chapelle). Another offer concerns the takeover: “Stade de France our common good” with in particular the Los Angeles-based company ASM Global (owned in particular by AEG) and the French manufacturer NGE.
