RE planning: territories are accelerating!

Renewable electrical energies provided 20% of our electricity needs in 2022 in France. Not enough ! according to specialists, to fight against climate change and the energy crisis. In this context, territorial planning is both a lever and a major challenge.

The law relating to the acceleration of the production of renewable energies, recently adopted by Parliament, establishes, with the acceleration zones, a territorial planning system for renewable energies to facilitate the local approval of projects and ensure their best balance in the territories.

This system, introduced at the initiative of parliamentarians, will involve numerous stakeholders (municipalities, EPCI, prefectural representatives, regional energy committees, etc.).

As a public electricity network operator, Enedis continues its central role in implementing the deployment of renewable energy projects. In particular, by making useful data relating to the capacities of the electricity network available to municipalities, EPCI, departments, Regions and AODE, etc. as well as by reducing legal deadlines for connection to the electricity network.

What are the major challenges of territorial planning? Why is planning necessary? Are the renewable energy acceleration zones, introduced by the renewable energy acceleration law, a certain way of planning?
