Built in 1903 according to the plans of the architect Léon Legendre, the Evreux theater has become fragile over the years, despite its beautiful exterior appearance.
Resting on heterogeneous ground, this Italian-style theater has experienced successive deteriorations over time which have caused significant cracks, threatening the stability of the structure.
This damage can be explained, among other things, by the aging of the foundations and external events, such as water table drawdowns or network ruptures.
In the past, several interventions took place but they did not resolve the problems in a lasting manner.
The recommended solution was that of the company URETEK®, offering local treatment by injections of expansive resin and making it possible to improve the load-bearing capacity of the floor. The pillars of the building, which rest on ballasted shafts and which ensure the proper distribution of the theater's load, were previously located thanks to excavations and with the help of period plans.
The intervention took place as follows: the Deep Injections® process allowed the caging of the wells and the reconstitution of the subsoil. The Walls Restoring® technique made it possible to recreate the binder of ballasted wells. The intervention was made delicate, due to the presence of Gallo-Roman remains as well as the very nature of the wells and embankments, made up of flint which is very difficult to drill and requires injections up to 11 meters deep in places. .
In just 40 days, URETEK® and its partners remedied the inconveniences and considerably improved the stability of the theater which will finally be able to reopen its doors.
