SMAC x Rockwool - Waste recycling at the La Fiée des Lois factory (Rockcycle)

As part of the renovation of the roof of the Fiée des Lois water and wine bottling plant in Prahecq, the SMAC teams called on Rockcycle to recover the 100 tonnes of rock wool deposited .

The principle of Rockcycle consists of recovering deposited materials in order to recycle them and make new insulators.

The works teams took particular care when removing the 12.000 m² of insulation by repalletizing them. A process which “makes it easier to store the waterproofing separately, the fixings separately and the insulation on the pallets” underlines Mustapha Lachhab, companion on this site.

The pallets are then collected by a carrier following the principle of reverse logistics, as François Hababou, product manager at ROCKWOOL France explains: “On this project, we did not have a partner nearby to be able to collect and consolidate the waste. Collection takes place once there are enough pallets at the site. We commission a truck to deliver new products close to the site. Instead of having it return empty, we send it to the site to collect the old products. »

The approach implemented by the SMAC Poitou Charentes agency in partnership with Rockwool is fully in line with SMAC's CSR approach.

At SMAC, sorting, recycling and recovery of their waste are indeed major challenges. This project is a beautiful illustration of this which will be reproduced as soon as possible in all their agencies.
