The ecological transition of the building sector is a major challenge for achieving carbon neutrality. To shed light on possible pathways, the French Building Federation conducted the Vision 2050 study. Its objective: to analyze the concrete conditions necessary to decarbonize the sector by 2050.
This study takes into account:
- The evolution of activity volumes between new construction and renovation
- The levers for decarbonization that can be mobilized
- The necessary transformations for businesses and the building trades
This study also aims to contribute to the public debate around the climate trajectories supported by public authorities, particularly within the framework of the National Low-Carbon Strategy and the Multiannual Energy Programme.
Because successfully achieving the ecological transition of the building sector requires reconciling climate ambition, housing needs and the economic realities of the sector.
